Delete and Report Spam

Since the primary season this year, the number of solicitation and spam texts and calls I receive has exploded.

I've even let my vm go to 100% full in another effort to (hopefully) get the calls to stop, but they haven't.
The text messages are all manner - from trying to sell me health insurance to loan me money to asking for political donations because, you know, mankind will cease to exist because if the other candidate gets elected ....

You all know what I'm talking about.

Just over the weekend I had 32 voice mails.

So why does the, "Delete and Report Spam" for those unwanted text messages seemingly not work? I still get the same messages, albeit from a different number.

And the national "Do Not Call List" is a joke. I honestly think that when I made that registration back during the primary season it spawned my digital purgatory of today.

I noticed that I have gotten a few more text than normal. The calls go through active armor so it really doesn’t irritate me to much. Otherwise I still get emails about nuns that need some loving attention

we have 2 phone systems

1) old fashion landline

2) cell

the landline has an old fashion answering machine.

when a spammer or telemarketer call and get that machine....???....click they go, they do not leave a message.

as for both my wife's and my cell phone..??

we do not have it set up to leave a voice mail, so if anyone calls we just do not answer ASAP..

we wait, check the number, then call back.

Ok, Look...If you'd just take out the vehicle warranty extension i'm offering you, there would be no more calls or text.

Agree 100%. Infinalled blocked all messages from “unknown number”. Now they all just go to the “unknown” file. Go in every couple days, select “all” and delete. Delete and report spam does zip. And as you said the “do not call” registry is a joke.

They've been exploding on my phone for about two years. One day I received 60 calls, texts, and voicemails. I had previously set up direct to voicemail on my phone and it only makes it easier to organize which ones I'll delete. I am also using no-call, which reduced the calls but not eliminated them.

In answer to your question as to why delete and report spam does not work this of their dialing programs as frequency hopping radios. Numbers are cycled through multiple area codes and numbers. Delete and report spam only knocks out one of those numbers. Generally, the program dials numbers and will respond to the first target to answer the phone, and viola, you're talking to a human. His buddy is doing the same thing. The number can change rapidly if you report as spam or black it. Tomorrow, it's the same company, different number and/or area code. Electronic Warfare brought to the market place.

One call I look at the called ID to see where it's coming from, and if I don't recognize it I let it go to caller ID and the answearing machine.

If it's an out-of state area code I right it down then if that number repeats itself I block it via my provider.

If it's in my area code either I pick it up. Many times it's someone calling my number since some &^%#* stole my number so we have a nice conversation & I tell them to block my number.

If it's a robo call or some unknown person I hang up on #1, or I tell the unkown person that the just called the local police dept or laundromat. Then they hang up.

I'm doing good right now without much of that stuff happening.

Hi,

I contribute fairly regularly to a few of my favorite candidates and political action committees. This puts me on "the list" so here during the midterm election frenzy I've been getting dozens of political texts and phone calls every day. Thankfully the phone is smart enough to label them "Political Call", "Solicitor", or "Spam Risk" so there's no need to answer. The texts are relentless but, again, the phone is smart enough so that it does not notify me of those types of incomming messages. A couple times a day I go through the messeges, unsubscribe (stop), block, report spam, delete the number from history, etc. It takes a few minutes but is not too inconvenient. I figure it's the price I pay to try and get this country going in the right direction.

Wow. As I'm typing this my phone rang. It was identified as "Survey" with an 844 area code. I didn't want to take anyone's poll right now so I just hit the button to silence the ring. The 844 area code is a "toll free" code, not tied to any geographical area, that is also subject to scams. I also get a lot of "Political Call" from the 202 area code. That's Washington DC. I still get a lot of calls from California area codes. I guess not everyone knows I've left. ;)

All that to say, "first world problems". Sure, I could do without the hassle but I love living in America.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

As mentioned above, I set up the phone so calls not in my address book automatically go to the spam folder. I also set up the phone so it doesn't ring when these calls come to my phone. Once a week I go to the spam folder. select all, and press delete. I too, am inundated with unwanted calls these days, esp. political calls. Why would I want to send money to someone running for an office that is not even in my state? I don't even send money to the politicians in my state. I've given up long ago thinking that any of these people really, actually give a damn about me or my concerns. FTA. In fact, the wife and I are so fed up we're thinking of going back to a landline or at the very least, sharing a burner phone.
