They claim they can do it with reconciliation. So it could get passed, but it would certainly be shot down by the courts I would think when it is immediately challenged.

For those in lesser constrained locales; Cook Co IL instituted a flat rate gun and ammo tax on top of general state sales tax and IL firearm owners ID card. Don’t ask how much was collected to date and where all the revenue was spent because they probably don’t even know or can’t account for it.
Bottom line, taxing doesn’t work.
Today, the taxed gun and ammo gimmick resulted in this…

This proposal proves that many Democrats don't fear AR-15's, they fear "poor" or "common" people with AR-15's. I'm surprised that 36 Democrats in the House were willing to out themselves as hardcore elitists. They usually at least try to pretend that they are concerned about poor and working class people.

When they put an exorbitant tax on the gun they made it where the rich can afford a closet full while the poor can't have one. This is patently un-constitutional and a half-witted plebe could successfully make the argument in front of the Court.
