yall know i don't care for the current secretary, not on his ability to get things done, but on his demeanor towards enlisted.

however
the piece i cut and pasted very much proves our top leaders in the military need to be culled or something.

"An Air Force general who was in the room on Sept. 30 spoke to Military.com on the condition of anonymity, saying that when they first learned of the intended gathering, it was perceived as a “loyalty check.” There was even a thought that some admirals and generals would be forced to resign on [the] scene."

this is above BULLL muffins...if your not doing the job..go the FLCucke home.
however the big meeting of some of the top brass and enlisted was needed so the information is not watered down later at the meetings in the command.. everyone knows exactly what is expected. get back to being sailors, soldiers and marines and less political correctness in the name of nothing to do with protecting the homeland

"“My chief and I kind of war-gamed it ahead of time, like, ‘Hey, if this happens, how will we react? If people stand up and clap, will we sit? Will we stand and not clap? How are we going to handle these situations? Or if [Hegseth] asks us to do something that is so completely against our morals and values, will we just walk out of the room?’”

my take..against your morals or is that a flat our i dont want to follow orders?

i wager most of the top in the room where around during obamas 1st term, so they may be ruined to the core
i left during little bush and he left us swinging from clintons manure.

i think its great women are in combat roles or on combatant ships, but dont lower any standard that may result in a shipmate or buddy being DEAD because of a weak link in the chain, whether its a man or woman

anyway its not a great read, but it does present a stark reality as to how far our military has fallen or been brain washed.

I agree the current crop of high level leadership is a soup sandwich - how many - I don't know. I saw this a long time ago in Iraq. However, Gen. (ret) Jack Keane has stated that a significant number of those in the room quietly agreed with the SoW on what he said. One only has to look at the reception Hegseth got when he visited USEUCOM and the commander greeted in not in dress uniform , but in utilities/fatigues that looked like they'd been ironed with a tennis shoe. This is the sort of childish passive-aggressive attitude he's been faced with.

BTW, what was/is SoW demeanor towards enlisted? I must have missed something.

My momma told me if you can't say anything nice, don't say nothing at all.
So did mine. Worked great in the early/mid 20th century, not so much in the late 20th & early 21st. Now if you don't speak up the silly bas**** think you agree with whatever nutty idea they come up with. ;)
As for the military, E-1 through four star, you're a solder, and follow the lawful commands of those appointed above you. Every one of these SOBs need to be court-martialed, their pensions yanked, buttons cut from their uniforms and marched away to the sound of Rouges March. General if it is so completely against your "morals and values", resign/retire and then speak out. Otherwise SHUT TO HELL UP AND DO YOUR JOB.:mad::mad:

I'm guessing Nick Mordowanec (the article author) is no longer on the approved press list at the Pentagon. I've heard retired officers weigh in on both sides, but the "off the record" comments here are nearly seditious.

1. As long as orders are within the bounds of constitutionality, get busy executing and keep thy trap shut. Whining to peers, leaders - or worse - subordinates/the press about one's opinion and feelings on the administration in general or Secretary Hegseth in particular are not what you are paid to do.
2. Do your jobs enthusiastically and to the best of your ability.
3. The gravy train (military to contractor/consultant/cabinet) is the cause of our weakened war-fighting capabilities.

/rant.

I stand with William Tecumseh Sherman.

'I hate newspapermen. They come into camp and pick up their camp rumors and print them as facts. I regard them as spies, which, in truth, they are.'

What are reporters doing in the Pentagon anyway? Anything the DOD needs to say, put it in an E-mail.

There are closed doors for that. I’m presuming they all knew it was coming.

i didn't really pay him much mind until he was sworn in, as in how his facial expressions and eye acted in the midst of enlisted. i dont care about eye rolling congress or looking at them funny
but enlisted folks are not your coffe boys or girls when you are an officer

several times i had watched him in conversation with enlisted persons mostly former and few active
his face and body language indicated he may be thinking..how dare an enlisted person touch me or look at me,

then when he was sworn in by the VP he made a half *** attempt to humor the issue after the guts left his mouth

i am paraphrasing as i dont have the link here
the VP had cast the needed vote in senate to confirm
"he remarked and then tried to make a joke, but his eyes, and body language gave him away
after the VP swore him in, he stated ..its bad when an enlisted man has to come to your aid or rescue..
"
maybe that crap flies in the army guard
but not in the navy in my community

Funny, I never noticed that.

Trump through Hegseth has upset the Generals apple cart. This is a big change to a lot of the brass. So many of them know nothing of combat but want, in the words of Mel Brooks, to protect their phoney baloney jobs. They are preparing to fight a knock down, drag out war with China and the brass had better polish off their warrior ethos or we are in big trouble.
