Didn’t know an M1 Carbine could be this accurate!

This is bench rest 25 yds with elevation holdover being my only challenge when zeroed to 100 yds. Wow! I re-staked the sight and decreased the wobble by 75%, so I’d say the effort was worth it. My M1 Carbine might be sub 2 MOA if I had it on a lead sled.

I knew Sheriff deputies who carried them in their cruisers in the 70's
My father carried one in his squad car. He became a deputy sheriff, starting in a Seattle precinct at age 35 in '67. He's gone now but left me with some great stories from his early days...effective police work which would make the left of today lose their collective minds. One incident involved his sergeant pulling up to a scene and using his fully automatic Thompson on a building to convince an armed con to come out. It worked.

I have my dad's Universal M1 carbine, S/N 235xx which puts it somewhere around 1963 give or take a year and well below the 90xxx or so when they first altered from Mil-Spec. I'm looking forward to seeing how it shoots, far better than my eyesight I'm sure.

Too late already lost for too many ;)
Have a soft spot in my heart for the M1 carbine, only rifle dad ever owned. Don't know if it was the accuracy of the rifle or the shooter but I've watched dad shoot bats out of the air with his. You ain't lived till you had to go out at dawn and shovel bat bits out of the path from the house to the outhouse.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::rolleyes:

Ooops. Guess I should have said "would lose their collective minds...if they had them."
Bats? Oh yeah, I tried that many times as a teen with my 12 gauge. Those buggers can dodge pellets! Never did hit one.

That was my experience with bats. Dad carried a M1 carbine through WWII and as one of the frozen chosen. Did all his deer hunting with it and wasn't above whacking a duck with it or anything else that needed whacking. Pigs, beef critters, sick horses, Jeeps that the driver made the mistake for "shooting at us" during hunting season,..........
