Disappointed in Arrival Condition

My disappointment was in the arrival condition of my new TRP 4.25. I don'trecall I have never received a gun that was that dirty. I thought I have somehow been sold a used gun or there was a serious issue resulting in major test firing to solve. I have not experienced this with my past purchases. Is this becoming a norm now when guns are shipped or just a one off. I felt like a 1k round range test had been completed before shipping. I am aware that guns arrive dirty but this was negligent. The ramp had zero shine. For the good news, when the gun got to the range I was very pleased and happy with my purchase

At least you know it was test fired, the Ruger LW 1911 I just got was also was really dirty, maybe it’s just a 1911 thing….lol, glad you like it though

i cannot recall any gun i bought NEW being dirty........but i always clean and lube them as soon as i get them home.

the factory could have just pulled THAT one off the line to test it, and used Mexican (Aguila) ammo to test it.

check for guacamole sauce on the trigger, grip, and slide......and owners manual.

where did you buy it from?
i have received a few that were heavily preserved but not dirty or grimy
If its a gun that a customer bought from an online dealer and shipped to us, we only touch it enough to get the make model and serial number. So the buyer gets it how it was shipped

If its a new gun that the shop bought for sale, they get wiped down before going into the case; but they dont get detail cleaned--isnt the cleaning part of the fun of buying a new gun--kinda like getting to know each other on a first date...

Hmm. I've recieved a few new guns that I could tell were test fired with some really cheap dirty ammo, but they hadn't been abused from an extended range test. Some even had the target used from the test firing included in the box, usually three shots if I recall correctly.

I'd also be interested in where you purchased your TRP. I'm glad to hear that it performed up to expectations. Were there any other signs of wear?

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

ah yes...me and a new date (when i was a mere young single lad), we would play "kittens" on our first date, and would lick each other clean....

oh dear..........my bad....i just watched a @Belt Fed video..........

damn @Belt Fed , DAMN HIM TO ALL OF ETERNITY IN HELL...!!!!!!!!!

(but it was a good video....)

Perhaps someone took a shine to the pistol so they took it out on the range and fired it a few times, then packed it up and sent it to your ffl holder. Depending of course on who you purchased it from.

Yep thats the issue. Did you buy it directly from your local dealer OR from an online store On gunbroker or similar? Did you look at it before you picked it up?

It does sound like something used online. I had some luck 🍀 but I always check it out before I do my paperwork
