Do You Carry While Doing Yard Work?

The kids have played that part and deliverance can't play banjo. There's somebody standing behind him with his arms sticking out playing that piece.

The last time I looked it up the kid works at a Walmart.

The answer the question I put my gun on when I get dressed in the morning I take it off when I get undressed at night.

Yer a might handsome feller.

It's a point of controversy in my little neighborhood. I have attached, to the side of my lawn tractor, a machete for the prickers that grow along the edges, a knife for doing whatever you need to do with a knife, an arm bracket to hold my phone, and a kydex sheath for my 10mm. I have in the past had some shady characters approach me to do things, like "Paint my address on the curb" or "Take care of those branches"...etc. And when I tell them no, they get a little crazy. SO yes, as they approach now, I pull out the 10mm and they quickly find someone else to bother...

My neighbors hate it, I've had the township and sheriff called on me...but I am not breaking any rules or laws. There's no issue with the knife or machete...just the handgun. I am going to upgrade to my Shockwave 12ga this summer, just to stick it to the neighbors :-D

I know I haven’t, not wanting to sweat all over one of my guns 😃, but then I read this. While I know this was more of an execution style killing that the unsuspecting victim never saw coming, it does give me pause.

I do try to keep situational awareness at the forefront while doing my yard work (tracking if anyone is walking down the street towards my house; if anyone else is outdoors near me when I start, etc.), but there are “very short” times when my back is toward the street if cutting grass South-North (I alternate South-North and East-West tracks to help grass).

I’ll certainly give further critical thinking to carrying while in my yard.

Use to just stack arms in the front yard, 3 AR's, 5.56, 300 BO and a 308, in that beside each will be my Kuna, a BP 12 and SBR in 5.56 or 300 BO. My Boxer stands guard on my military style stack, barrels up. I'd stage ammo boxes around the yard disguised as yard decor.

Then, I got a new mower and I don't think it's necessary to haul by armory outside, I solved that;

Nope. I live in the ultimate middle class, suburban, plain Jane neighborhood. Crime is practically non-existent and I know most of the folks around here on sight. I may not know them all by name, but I can recognize who belongs here and who doesn't.
Believe me, any stranger passing through attracts a lot of attention. If one should come by, its a good time to go inside for a drink of water. ;)

Hi,

There are a few occasions I don't carry, i.e. a professional sports contest or live theater where there are metal detectors. If I'm not carrying in the house, I have protection close in a Stop Box on the coffee table.

I've gotten out of the habit carrying while doing yard work. It's very hot, humid, and sweaty here using my push mower. I might carry again once I get a riding mower. Otherwise I should drop my Derringer in my pocket in the meantime. I'm in a low crime area but there were a couple of break-ins a few years ago. Let's be careful out there.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

That banjo music makes me nervous! Plus if somebody tried to pull my sweatpants down it be on!
I heard that "Deliverance II" is in the making. Minnesota Timmy will be playing Ned Beatty's part. He's doing it pro-boner.
