Dress Code

I used to date a nurse on the night shift back in the day. I would swing by after work and we would have dinner together. I was a suit and tie guy back then. Got to slinging a stethoscope around my neck and NOBODY ever asked any questions as I wandered around. They just assumed I was someone important. Lesson learned. I have a friend that claims he can get anywhere with a clipboard and a confident smile. Took me up to watch a Royals Game with the camera man to prove his point. All I am saying is tighten up. It is for your own good, from a traffic stop to restaurants to Hospitals. You look like an old hippie, you will be treated like one. Camouflage is a basic military staple. Use it to your advantage. What advantage does a long and scraggly beard and a T shirt offer you? And that is a serious question, because I don't know. I understand and capitalize on playing the "Haves" game. Give me a few good reasons to look homeless.
I find using manners, treating people with respect, engaging with others, and tipping well gets me everything I need on a daily basis. I don't understand what you mean by the "Haves" game. I do know a suit and tie don't make you a have but possibly a well dressed "Have Not". I am not a protector but a supporter.

The tactical edge I was referring to is never wearing flip flops or crocs and skinny jeans that hinder your movement, things like that. Another edge is not looking like a hobo when the police arrive. I am just trying to give you some good advice that is obviously not going to be taken in the spirit in which it was offered.

So would a guy wearing "Dasie Dukes" be considered a tactical edge ❓

I have been blue collar most of my life, so I only own two suits. One from our wedding, and one for all other occasions. Mostly clean, well kept jeans and clean tshirts or a nice polo/dress shirt that goes well with jeans. Sometimes I will wear Dockers, and I have two Untuckit shirts that will go with either. All fitted around concealed carry, whether IWB or OWB. Wear my crappy jeans and tshirts working around the house or on vehicles and motors. I do occasionally wear shorts, just make my wife happy. She asked me why I rarely wear shorts. I told her that when we are all sitting around outside in the evening and they are all swatting no seeums on their legs, to look over at me with my Mona Lisa smile on and ask me then.

Yesterday was supposed to have been my day to go into town, but had to cancel. So I went today. My attire for today was athletic shorts and shoes, a pocket t-shirt, and a ball cap on top of my crew cut shaved head. My beard was combed and I had applied beard balm after my shower this morning. My beard is almost to the point of being long enough to start braiding it, as I used to in years past when it was long enough. Think late David Allan Coe beard style. First stop was my credit union. The employees in there were all dressed in light business casual style. Nothing fancy. All the customers would have caused you fashion snobs to go into a terminal hissy fit. All the women seemed to be in all kinds of different casual summer wear. About 2/3rds of the men were in some style of shorts. The other third were jeans. Mostly blue collar guys. There was one older gentleman sitting in the waiting area with jeans and cowboy boots. Wearing a plain solid colored tee shirt and a base ball cap that said Vietnam Veteran. His hair was in a pony tail and he had a short beard. I would have loved to see some sissy dress code nazi call him out. Academy Sporting goods was my next stop, just to window shop. You light in the loafer types would have stroked out walking in there. As was pointed out by several others, dress the way you want. And if you want to blend in, then dress the way those around you do. I fit in perfectly in my part of the country. As for being an ambassador to the 2nd. amendment, how do you do that without going around open carrying? Or do you wear a sign? I was under the impression that most conceal carry, and don't want anyone else to know it. I guess that person is crying out for attention, dressed in their tuxedo
