What’s it say about the Mexican gubment if they aren’t even in control after the leader of the CJNG cartel is taken out?

Imagine if this happened here in the US …. say in a place like Chicago if the local law enforcement took out a prominent high ranking gang leader?
What an unnerving situation. I’m glad I don’t live in a major metropolitan area.
(watching this unfold …)

The clash is spreading, people are told to shelter in place, and tourists are told to stay withing the confines of resorts.
I hope tourism comes to a complete halt. That would get the Mexican government to ramp up their war against cartels.
Mexico is a border country. We should have the right to take out anyone who threatens our citizens...right in their own backyard.

Definitely a result of this administration’s pressure on the Mexican administration to “clean house.” Gotta love and respect that.
Great to see the taking of the fight to the source.

Imagine if we spent / invested the kind of money and resources in this hemisphere that we’ve spent elsewhere.

I’m just surprised at how “weak” the gubment in Meh-key-co must really be. Sheesh.

If that happened in Chicago the civilian office of police accountability would have those officers on administrative leave awaiting their court date for either excessive force, murder or wrongful death.
Past practice is having grandma show their school picture to the news and saying he was on his way to bible school.

Their gubment and police forces are on the cartel payroll.

i'd NEVER in a gazillion years, trust travel to mexico.

i watch on ocassions game shows with the wife, and i say to the tv..."don't win a trip to mexico"...!!

or at the end of the show......"don't take that trip, take a cash out offer"...???

never trust a country where the president or queen, or king does not have control, but the thugs do...!!!!!

There are a lot of decent, incorruptible, extremely brave people within Mexico's LE and military sectors and the killing of El Mencho demonstrates their commitment. But it's an uphill battle, just as it was in Columbia during the days of Escobar and Ochoa. The only way to win is to take off the gloves and fight dirty. That's not as easy as it sounds. It has to be done in direct contravention of a country's constitutional law and sometimes involves enlisting the help of rival cartels or paramilitary groups, like Hugo Martinez did in Columbia.

But killing Oseguera and extraditing other guys like Quintero, Guzman (El Chapo), slamming Gallardo with a long prison sentence, shows the Mexicans are trying.

Here in this country we've been calling it a "war" on drugs for forty years, trying to fight the "war" within legal parameters. Only recently have we responded with a significant and necessary warlike lethality.
