Emergency Money

In the recent watch thread, a poster said he has his Rolex because its "skip money" anyplace in the world its recognizable as value. I can remembers my Dad and Uncles used to keep a $100 bill in the back of their wallet for "just in case". Back in the last century, when you still went to the bank to cash your pay cheque, I used to get a roll of quarters each week to keep in the glove box of my Mustang 5.0, I loved that car but it had a nasty time on slick roads and the stash of quarters often paid the tow truck driver (for you youngsters that was before debit cards and cell phones). Today $100 isnt much more than a meal for two at McDonalds, and Id hate to think what a tow costs now. Still having readily handy cash seems like a good thing.

Not that long ago a buddy who had a tow truck showed me the stuff that he took in trade for an emergency tow. He had at least on shotgun and I suspect maybe a handgun or two but we didnt discuss that. Knowing him he probably worked out some other arrangements as well with some customers. The trades kept the deal off the books where a credit card was on the record.

Do you keep emergency CASH at hand? How much?

yes, $100 stashed in the car tucked away where wont be found.
It's for gas money if the pumps dont take credit cards or issues with a card, etc.
I've been on a long road trip where my CC was flagged for fraud and got a call from bank. Fraud purchases that day in another state. I was down to 1/4 tank of gas and now my CC was locked up. Debit card was with daughter & forgot to get it back. Lesson learned.
Keep cash on hand. always.

Now why in the hell would I post something like that online? And people are afraid to fly the American flag or put an NRA bumper sticker on their car. Then, here we are on a gun site talking about what guns we like/have so that goes out the window;):ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Yes and more than enough. Trudeau froze the accounts of protesting truckers. Don't think it can't happen here.

IDK, guess maybe Ive decided not to live my life in fear. IF it reaches the point where they are getting a court order for your info because you admitted you kept a few dollars for emergencies then TARFU....and by the way posting about NOT posting is the same as posting when they are looking for you

Trudeau is a communist dressed up in pretty clothes (kinda like that Newscum guy). Besides didnt Trdeau's wife give him a black eye?

Im not saying it CANT happen here (it CAN), Im saying things would have to be pretty bad when/if it does and saying you have a $100 bill in your wallet wont get you flagged, the 4473s will

I'm not worried about the Feds. The $100 started out as $200 on my paycheck, but after their cut, I got $100 spending cash. They know about my $100 already 😬 :cautious:

I'm an old sales rep who's been caught in cash-only bars and diners with customers enough to never go anywhere without at least what ya'll are discussing. I also support cash transactions over CC or e-pay....a cashless society is controlled by big brother.

Ahh… spending the sales rep cash entertaining in $1 & $2 increments at “the club”. 😏🤠.

We keep a few K in a safe in the house for emergencies, but we nicknamed it “mad money”. We squirrel it away little by little and then something comes up where we dip into it. It has certainly helped out when the hot water heater took a dump, that sort of thing.

I usually don't carry much in my wallet. i use a debit card for most everything. i keep a little in the safe at home. and various jars buried in the yard.
