Important Update from Forum Staff on 01/26/2026

Hello all,

The forum staff would like to take a moment to remind everyone of the forum rules regarding politics. We acknowledge that we have at times been lax on the rules regarding politics, but due to an increasing number of political threads requiring moderation action, we as the staff have decided to remove any non-2A political posts or threads or memes going forward. This is not a change in forum policy, as our terms & rules have not changed, it is simply going to be a more stringent enforcement of those rules going forward.

Summary:

• Politics is NOT allowed in any forum section, except for Second Amendment-only politics in "Armed with Knowledge".

• "Armed with Knowledge" is SECOND AMENDMENT SPECIFIC. How the ICE situation or upcoming elections are going is not 2A. Yes, some non-2A political topics affect Second Amendment rights but that is clearly not Springfield's intent with the "Armed with Knowledge" section.

Some members in the forum believe that because this is a "public" forum, their First Amendment rights outweigh any rules. However, this is a Springfield Armory corporate forum and it is intended as a place to discuss Springfield Armory firearms and other general firearms topics and how they fit into our lives. We've highlighted this final point before, but we will reiterate it - there are plenty of places elsewhere for you to go to online to discuss politics, tell dirty jokes, and express your frustrations but this forum not one of them.

Please be respectful of other members and the company who owns this forum, and please abide by the rules & terms. Members who do not do so could face warnings, temporary bans, or permanent bans.

Correct. The staff will do our best to delete such threads/posts when they come up. Any other members, if you are able, please use the Report function to report any non-2A political posts (or any other rule-breaking posts) to assist the staff in deleting those threads/posts.
 
Political and religion has caused more arguments, wars, killings, riots than anything. and it will continue to do so. but it is a pain to keep under control in a forum where people can banter without having to face the other. A lot of things start out as non political and ends up there. all it takes is one post and it's on like Donkey Kong.

So just so we're all clear. I posted in gear about having an issue sourcing a .357 sig barrel because of new calif laws. That's now Verboten... it would need to go into the special forum section. So let's be clear. I'm good with their rules it's their site but make no mistake the other side has no rules about talkin politics. That's why we're getting the crap kicked outta us. You say your fighting for 2a right. Are you really?

In the case of the .357 Sig barrel thread, requesting information about a particular firearm or barrel due to state laws would be fine in the Guns section, we wouldn't have a problem with that.

2A rights are fine to discuss in "Armed with Knowledge".

On the other hand, discussions about particular political parties or candidates (insofar as they are not directly related to 2A), ICE, etc. are not allowed. Just want to try to clear things up for you guys.
