First Look: Julie Golob Reviews the 4" SA-35

Recently picked up this new 4" version and love the balance & look of it. My one gripe, & it's the same for the other SA-35 examples I have, is that I wish the safety was more positive flicking it on/off. It's rather mushy. I'd really prefer it to have the snickety-snick feel and sound of a 1911 thumb safety.

Good friends: Why the fixation with Parabellum? 10 is king, 9 is court jester. FBI study? Fiddlesticks! A 10mm is mastered with correct grip and a comp’d shooting instrument. I yet wait for an Echelon 4.0 Comp in 10 millimeter. Cheers!
Find the original 10mm load of 220gr TC bullet at 1400fps and an auto pistol that will handle those loads and still be able to carry it. I own a 10mm 1911 love the pistol and cartridge. Video yourself drawing your handgun that’s chambered in 10mm with the hottest Buffalo Bore or Underwood Ammo draw put 2 rds A zone in less than 1.5 seconds I’ll be impressed. Not even BB or UA will load the original Norma 10mm loads and we have way better pistols now than in the 80’s. The original Norma loads were on par with the 41 magnum.

Hi,

I just wanted to welcome you to the forum, and thank you for sharing your thoughts. The SA-35 is one Springfield unit that I do not have in my safe. I have a few XD models, XDM, a couple Echelons, a couple 1911s, etc. In other words, I'm just talking out my ......

There is something very satisfying about "snicking" the 1911 thumb safety off and on. I wonder if there is an aftermarket safety or spring kit that would add a little more bite to the apparatus. I don't know, that's just me thinking out loud. Most of my handguns do not have thumb safeties, and that's fine with me. I understand why they are used on the 1911, especially if you carry "locked and loaded" with one in the chamber. That's how I've trained with mine.

Anyway, I'll shut up before I start one of those "beating a dead horse" discussions about thumb safeties. I'm glad you found us.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
