Flying Freely, The B-52

April 26, 2025 by Lou Marin

The mighty airplane roars through the sky.
A steel bird, behemoth on high,
manned with a courageous flight crew,
bringing destruction, committed to peace too.

A steel bird, behemoth on high,
released falcon, shrieks it’s battle cry.
Wings and tail spread out wide;
tiny rodents; enemy soldiers hide.

Manned with a courageous flight crew,
going to battle for them is nothing new.

The same spirit in their chest still sings,
since men piloted open cockpits and cloth wings.

Bringing destruction, committed to peace too,
such is the role of the venerable B-52.

Now, no one wants to fight a war,
but the sound of America’s freedom is in its roar.

I saw the vapor trails. I didn’t see it release its payload. What I saw next was breathtaking.
The whole valley erupted with explosions after explosions. A B-52 Arc-light strike will both amaze and scare the 💩out of you. I’m glad they’re on our side🇺🇸🪖
