Unintended Gunplay

Gunplay is never advised! Worst case scenario, it can easily end with fatal results. In best case instances, it leads to the embarrassment and/or annoyance of the owner. Either way, gunplay isn’t good! But what if it’s the gun initiating the amusing antics?

I got one of those plastic things you push down on piece of junk . My best advice is wipe the grease off your hands first

I love/hate cleaning my 1911s for this reason. I don't feel so bad though, as I had one of my instructors set one flying out of one of my 1911s while showing me how to disassemble it for cleaning. It happens to (nearly) everyone at least once.

Worse yet are spring bars on watches. Once they take off the are darn near impossible to find. Until a month or so later when you step on them like a tack.

Disassembling a brand new 1911, even took apart the mag release button. Wham! There goes the damn parts. I spent 45 minutes looking for the damn thing. My garage is not the most pristine place to look for tiny pieces you're not supposed to let go of.

Before I start assembling/disassembling I'm getting closer to doing this

as the need arises to keep parts in check. A white room with magnetic walls, ceilings, floors and bench is going to be my go-to. AR's are my PITA firearms.

All those bitsy spring loaded parts are a pita. I launched a safety plunger and spring from my 938 and never did find ‘em -ordered new replacement and darn near lost the plunger trying to install. This amateur gunsmith stuff is “exciting”

Well, last year I finally took the chassis out of my Sig P320 X-Five legion to clean it good, first time I took it out, wiped it down and put it back in, reassembled gun, wouldn’t function, took it apart again including the chassis and low an behold a pin fell out of the safety mechanism rendering the gun inoperative. Called Sig up and told them which pin I needed, CS told me yea, they fall out very easy, so I picked up two more, one as a replacement and one as a spare, CS told me these pins are known to fall out, I told him there should be an addendum included with the manual.

for the first time in years, my guide rod spring cap went flying this past tuesday.

i took my D/W Heritage out of the cabinet, to check on the lube, since it wasn't shot for several months...

i hadn't shot this gun much, so things are still stiff.....i needed the bushing tool, and "ka-zingy" that dang spring cap went up to the ceiling, over to the wall, and onto the floor...

i heard where it was going, and lucky for me, it hit all wood in my basement...

that particular room, has no concrete floor.

re-lubed the gun, for a trip to the club hopefully monday

i have the first 2 things like you......that magnet on wheels would be much better for my plank flooring.
