FNX™-45 Tactical Opinions Wanted

My plan, in the event I have to defend my home from an intruder is to aim for their thigh or knee and get them down on the floor then stand over them and put two more to finish them off while they have a concrete slab under them to stop the rounds hopefully. I do sometimes wonder if the projectile would ricochet and come back at me and in that case I consider the angle at which I'm presenting the firearm and considering that trajectory. I just hope I do not freeze up with indecision in that moment where my life is in the balance. I was recently perusing the Tanfoglio Witness P


of the IFG (Italian Firearms Group) 10MM which is the closest thing to a 10MM CZ75 pistol that I can find currently. I have not had my hands on one yet to confirm the CZ75 ergonomics but the ai seems think it is the closest non CZ made as a CZ style in 10MM/.45 cal. This one is all steal. I have several .45s already, a few striker fired, and few 1911 hammer fired style. But none have threaded barrels for a suppressor and none have optic cut slides. For my inside the house home defense, I want it to be a .45, be able to accept a suppressor, and have the slide cut to accept an optic if I choose to put one on it. There is no need for concealment, it will stay at home, so a full size frame is my choice also. I also want this one to be hammer fired, not a striker fired one for this situation. I have no concerns about over penetration. I live in the country with no super close by neighbors. My wife and I live alone, with our two large dogs. The wife will either be by my side armed with her own pistol, or flat on the ground near the bed if anything happens. I don't plan to execute intruders while they are on the floor, just shoot until the threat is stopped. My feeling is that my dogs will get all the action and glory before I have to do anything.

How many other 45s have you shot? I have nothing to compare it to. Thanks for the information though.

I do not have any dogs anymore. Execute feels like the wrong term for what defending myself looks like in my home. I just hope it is a decent strategy for minimizing the risk of hitting any of my neighbors. I live in a suburban neighborhood so over penetration is a concern. Anyone forcing their way into my house will be carried out in a body bag. No two ways about that.
 
although a 10 round mag is available for the 220 the hk is stuck at 10 also. i haven't ben able to find and extensions or higher cap mags for it. 15 rounds in the fn is a good haul. glock 21/41 is a 13 round standard and so is the AF romulus.
