data brokers can track the devices you take with you, they know where you live, where you go, and what you do. And the stakes are only poised to climb higher, now that surveillance companies that sell automatic license plate readers (ALPRs) are getting in on the game. Defense contractor Leonardo is promoting a new technology called SignalTrace that will package plate cameras with sensors that can scrape unique identifiers tied to your smart devices and make that data available to law enforcement.

A recent report by 404 Media dives into the objective of SignalTrace and how it’s being marketed to authorities. Police, border security, and other government agencies already comprise Leonardo’s customer base, and with this technology, those clients seek to correlate footage from these cameras to phones, tablets, wearables, AirTags, and, naturally, the electronics inside cars themselves.

I don't have anything to hide, but I also enjoy my freedom from 24/7 surveillance by the overreaching government! The idiots that created the Patriot act, and other such atrocious behavior towards Americans, are somehow immune to the systems. Rant over....
 
Cellphones are always listening, here's one example. The little lady & i were talking bout buying couple of queen size sheet sets one morning. We hadn't even searched online. Later that morning we had alotta pop up ads for queen size sheet sets. Other family members have had the same thing happen to them. All the newer phones are sealed, the battery is not removable. They are always listening.

Factory OEM Sensors: Most standard factory Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) use standard radio frequency (RF). However, some modern vehicles, such as recent Tesla models and some premium EVs, have transitioned to Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) sensors to allow direct communication with smartphones

The gov’t can tap into these frequencies and track you from one end of the country to the other. The technology available to spy on us is mind blowing.
 
All this has nothing to do with Palantir, try Google, Apple and Microsoft who started all this stuff decades ago with cellphones, search engines and other personal devices to gather data on those who use them.

And the massive computerization of vehicles ~25 yrs ago.

Google, Apple and Microsoft do it for your consumer dollars. Palantir wants to control your soul. When the day comes that the govt comes for you Peter Thiel will be the guy directing the shock troops not Bill Gates, Tim Cook or Larry Page and Sergey Brin. All those guys want you on the streets spending your dollars. Peter Thiel wants to turn you into an Orc and send you to Mordor.
 
Palantir is focused on defense issues.

If you think Google, Microsoft & Apple are all sunshine, butterflies & bunny's then you're sorely mistaken.

Better head back to the UK for more pickled/jellied eels.

Geofencing is used by advertisers all day long. Feds use the technique too.

I have told my family members that I am within centimeters of only turning on my cell phone when I need to call, then turning it off again.

You can imagine the looks I get.

I remind them that Bin Laden survived for ten years as the most wanted man on Earth because he eliminated his digital footprint.

I get more stares.
