A close cousin of the popular DAO™ and SAO™ holsters, the Auto Pistol Outdoorsman (APO™) Belt Holster is the superior choice for carrying a semiautomatic pistol in the great outdoors.

Designed for open carry when hunting, hiking, camping, or adventuring in the wilderness, the versatile APO can be worn in either the strongside or cross-draw position at the user's preference.

The low ride positioning increases comfort and helps to clear pack straps or other gear. A traditional retention strap features a glove-friendly polymer tab, and secures the pistol in the brush, over rugged terrain, or when riding a horse, motorbike or ATV/UTV. Tension screw adjustment allows for a custom fit to the pistol.

Unlined premium steerhide construction ensures a long service life, even in the hard-knocks world of the hunting fields. Detailed hand molding both promotes pistol retention and enhances the beauty of this top-quality holster.

Available in black or tan, the Auto Pistol Outdoorsman fits belts up to 1 3/4".

Nice but outside my bank account. I would settle for the Avenger that's on closeout for $68. The only new holster I have bought was several years back was a Texas Saddlery shoulder holster and I bid $10 and won it.

Avenger is nice.

I prefer a straight drop to a cant, myself.
Always thought you get a better draw with a straight drop! Yes, it may be better in a car but I typically draw the gun after I get my fat butt out of the car. That was taught at the academy, drive or shoot, but not at the same time...

If your holster is canted, you have to "swing' the pistol (revolver) that much further around to get up on your sights.

Always seemed like common sense to me.

I have never really bought into the argument that a canted holster provides you "more concealment," but I get it .... I get that that is an argument to be made, just doesn't convince me at the end of the day. And to be transparent, I do have a couple (2 to be exact) of holsters that are canted, but like the chosen platform, the holster is chosen for the work at hand.

My canted holsters are perfect for days spend in the bush or hunting camp, not for personal protection from bad hombres.

I run a WW2 "tanker" holster for retention on my 4 wheeler. I've had a few guns go flying off for various reasons.
wife says I should wear a helmet.
Well now, that makes sense in those circumstances. Perhaps I should have been clearer .... if for personal protection, then *I* think a retention strap is a no-no.

If banging around in the Bush, different concerns.

I'm not certain that holster would hold like an original avenger does, because of the slot for the optical sight. I may be wrong.
Yep, good point.

And let's be honest .... if you're toting a pistol in the backcountry for defense, what use is an optic/RDS if you get charged by an angry bear?
Are you really going to line up the dot to shoot? I hope the heck not!

I like holsters with retention straps when riding my Harley. I also like DA SA guns for the same activity. Just can't bring myself to trust a striker fired gun in C1 while riding
