Gee really glad i dont travel for work any more

I spent decades on the road for 50-70% of the time, from age 37 to age 69. Don’t miss it ONE bit. Loved my work, hated travel and hotels

Exactly! Just about all of my adult working life had required me to travel to different places in one way or another. In another thread, some were saying and bragging about flying first class, hanging out in first class lounges, staying in the best hotels. Pretty sure all that talk was about their vacations. These days I love the thought of staying at my home out in the country for days on end. I almost dread having to make needed trips into town. I do feel sorry for my wife, though. She never did get to travel as much as I have in my life. But as I mentioned in another thread, I will never fly commercial again, unless it is a matter of life and death. I've been all over the world, and pretty much now it's if I can't drive there, I don't go there.

My friend you have summed it up perfectly. Always used to have folks say “gee, it must be great to have a job where you travel”. My stock response is “you’ve never had job where you travel have you?” You’ve not lived until you’ve slept on the Floor at O’Hare during a blizzard with 50,000 new best friends🙄

I use to travel (driving) a lot for work .... Use to hear, "you must see a lot of great things" ..... Mostly roadways, grass and trees, was my usual response.

I like being retired and able to stay home in my pajamas most days if I want. There's enough here to keep me busy.
