Get to Know Spyderco in Three Knives

Details? How did they fail and what were you doing ?

I was doing average things. Cutting cardboard, 550 cords, etc. The lock on both of them disengaged when I pulled the knife out of the boxes I stabbed. Both also failed spine smacks on a piece of wood. I was just tapping it lightly and I could see the lock creeping back.
I checked other owners having the same problems on a knife owner website.
They suggested replacing the Omega spring with a aftermarket one that was stronger.
Why spend more money on a knife that was designed for hard use. I returned them and said I didn’t want a replacement

I had an Emerson CQC-7 with the “Wave” opening feature in my back pocket with my wallet. I took my wallet out to get some cash and put it back in my pocket.
That action opened the blade.
The tip of that Tanto blade got me good and cut my back pocket.

Curious why you’d carry a 7W in your back pocket. Was this a single instance, or is this a preferred EDC location?
