$60Most people buy the same stuff week after week. I take the $total$ and divide it by the number of bags. Throughout the Biden presidency, I averaged $70-$75 a bag. It has been steadily dropping since Trump took office. Anyone care to guess what my 5 bags averaged today?
I've been being frugal for years now. Bare necessities. I haven't had a steak in years whereas I always used to have a freezer stocked with ribeyes. Chicken, ground beef, ground pork, occasionally I'll splurge on a pound of bacon if it is on sale. Lots of spaghetti, tons of shepherd's pie. Milk, eggs, butter, and cheese. Coffee. And $60 is waaayyyy high!$60
Are you actually buying the same stuff or are you subconsciously being more frugal ?
For the same groceries and the same amount of groceries ? I promise you grocery prices haven't fallen 44%. My grocery bill hasn't went down in any appreciable way.Average under Biden = $72.50 a bag. Today I paid $32.00 a bag. That's a 44% difference!
Definitely the same stuff and brands. The better half is very brand oriented. If I buy generic or store brand anything, she refuses to use it. I'm shocked at how much grocery prices have dropped. But gas and diesel hasn't budged a penny. When I see gas prices on the news I always ask myself "WHERE?!!!"For the same groceries and the same amount of groceries ? I'd be interested in knowing why, because it isn't even possible much less feasible that grocery prices have dropped 44%. I just asked my wife and she said our grocery prices haven't dropped at all.Definitely the same stuff and brands. The better half is very brand oriented. Just me and the wife, our bill used to run about 110.00 a week, down some to about 96.00-97.00 now, and we usually get the same brands as beforeI'd be interested in knowing why, because it isn't even possible much less feasible that grocery prices have dropped 44%. Are we talking about out of season fruit or some other anomaly because something is going on for sure.
But mine have not continued to go up!For the same groceries and the same amount of groceries ? I promise you grocery prices haven't fallen 44%. My grocery bill hasn't went down in any appreciable way.
Yeah, I haven't spent too much time comparing receipts. I just might do that tonight if I get bored. We use reusable shopping bags and there are a bunch of old receipts scattered throughout the bags I've not thrown away. As Sharks79 said, we're much the same way. Creatures of habit. Only the two of us. Pasta with mixed ground beef and ground pork one night. Shredded chicken tacos another night. Chicken fajitas. Dutch oven baked whole chicken with potatoes and carrots. Shepherd's pie. Leftovers for lunch. Toast or hash browns with eggs for breakfast. Usual veggies on the regular - brussel sprouts, cauliflower, asparagus, mushrooms, whit onions, garlic, and broccoli. Not all of those weekly. Typically only 2 from the list with the exception of garlic. We use a lot of garlic. A couple each of apples and oranges. Pre-covid we were always well stocked with everything including a lot of red meat. But with covid, and even now, work has been extremely slow so we've been on a weekly menu and only bought what we think we'll need for the week. But my grocery expenses have definitely gone way down. Prior to going to the market, I log into my Safeway account and electronically clip all of the applicable coupons (which I NEVER used to do pre-covid). But the receipts don't lie. Prices have definitely decreased in Oregon.I'd be interested in knowing why, because it isn't even possible much less feasible that grocery prices have dropped 44%. If you typically buy the same stuff, like we do, maybe just continue keeping track of the totals and compare them over a longer time frame. Anomalies will present themselves easier. That’s what I’d do, but I’m a lazy bastard so…Yeah, I haven't spent too much time comparing receipts. I just might do that tonight if I get bored. Gas hasn't gone down here at all. We're still sitting at $4.50 a gallon. With Safeway points I usually get ¢20 or ¢30 off.One thing that is real and appreciable. Gas is the cheapest it’s been, adjusted for inflation, since like 2003.
National average this weekend is $3.08/gallon. It’s about $2.50 here.Gas hasn't gone down here at all. We're still sitting at $4.50 a gallon. With Safeway points I usually get ¢20 or ¢30 off.

Someone’s gotta pay for all those damn hippies.Oregon
Oh how wrong you are! I WISH it was hippies! More like 6'3", 280# dudes with blue hair wearing a dress and red lipstick. Eastern Oregon is trying to have Idaho annex them. If they go to Idaho, I'll feel all alone here in leftville.Someone’s gotta pay for all those damn hippies.![]()
There is absolutely no way prices have dropped 44%, if at all. Some eggs have come down minimally, which had absolutely nothing to do with the current administration. Easing of avian flu restrictions and the fact that we have been importing more eggs to make up for the lack of domestically produced eggs has helped ease the price of eggs, but they are stillI'd be interested in knowing why, because it isn't even possible much less feasible that grocery prices have dropped 44%.
