I really feel for you. People like you, me and many, many others consider our pets to be valued family members. When we loose one it is truly heart breaking.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss @Belt Fed . Your pup lives in your heart. My brother went through this several months ago. It is very hard. I will tell you what I told him...they are never gone, they are in your heart for the rest of your life. My thoughts and prayers are with you

Thanks everyone, She was in a lot of pain and it hurt to see her that way. i really loved that dog. was my child. it's gonna hurt for a while. the yard seems very lonely now with her not in it.

That sucks, man, sorry to hear. We had to put ours down last August, she should have been 17 in September. We had her 15 years. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. This was really my first dog, as I grew up in apartments. We got her the day after my birthday, the same month we bought our house

Had to do the same to Samual Edward my Springer and Tamra my over Cocker in the same year. No more dogs (or any pet) for me. As I get older the loss of family, friends, and pets becomes more frequent, I just don't need the pain, plus the worry of what happens to them after I'm gone.

Our lab was to be our last dog and we held out for 10 months. I'm glad we changed our minds.

After my Golden had to be put down I was crushed. We still had the pitbull Max, but we decided when Raleigh died there would be no more dogs. It's too hard when they go.

There's a book by James Herriot called "Dog Stories" that made me feel better. It's basically a book about a bunch of different dogs he met and cared for as the local vet in the Scottish highlands I think.

My wife was standing in the window crying while ago. she said i miss DD. I'm surprised she remembered us taking her to the vet. but she did. it is mighty lonely out in the yard without out there. i mighta cried a couple times today too.
