Handguns: Fiber-Optic or Night Sights?

Nice article, myself I like the night sights, the fiber optic are nice, but it gets old when they decide to break, usually at a bad time when you need them.

Lol, i am not special forces or even current military. If my opponent is using night vision in my house or locales i am likely to be protecting myself in and I am not then I have got bigger problems than them seeing the sights on my handgun.

I used nvgs in the army. I was in an artillery unit. We had a tritium illuminated collimator in front of every gun on the battery. The NVGs never picked up that.

Yes. TFX Pros please. My new OR slide for my VP9 ( which the mail guy just entered the neighborhood with in fact) has XS suppressor height sights. Blacked out rear, tritium front. We'll see how I like them.

First ask your self one question:
Will you only shoot your firearm during lighted conditions?

If not then Tritium night sights as you can see your sights in the dark.

Night sights for my main carry handguns, but fiber optic or 3 dots for safe queens, range and competition guns. It's been my personal experience that you might as well not have any sights if you're trying to use figer optic sights in low light as they're just about invisible especially against dark backgrounds.

I can shoot either, so no preference. For nightstand gun, I prefer my red dot. For ccw gun I prefer a red dot lol. For my woods carry, I carry multiple head lamps and lights just in case. So either works for me.

I often hear naysayers of night sights say something to the effect of, "if it's too dark to see your sights, it's too dark to identify your target." And while that may be true - if it's actually that dark, that ignores how useful night sights can be for quick sight acquisition in low light conditions where non-illuminated sights are slower to pick up and align. It doesn't have to be pitch black for night sights to be useful.

No one can predict when, where and how what may be the worst day of your life will occur. Plan for the worst...night sights if only for the front sight.
