Handguns of the 1990s: Colt, Ruger, Smith & Wesson

I was one of the unfortunate ones who bought a Colt Double Eagle, my one dealer was really pushing this model, I didn’t keep it very long, but it did make a good paper weight, as for the Ruger P series, I owned several and never had any issues whatsoever with them.

I was too young to buy a Ruger P Series gun for the first 15 or so years of their existence. By the time I was old enough to purchase a handgun, Glock was firmly positioned at the top of the food chain. My first handgun purchase was Austrian polymer, but I still regret never picking up a P90. It's one model that I would trade for in a heartbeat if I found one in good condition. Judging by the fact that I never see P Series guns in the used gun cases in my area, I'm guessing the original owners are still happy with them.

I had a P90 for many years, my friend still has it. I never shot it much so I sold it to him and bought a King Cobra .357.
The pistol would reliably feed anything. I got into revolvers and sold off all my auto loaders.
I still don't miss it. It had a strange (to me) recoil effect. You had the recoil then another little bobble as the slide went back into battery. Not a bad thing, just felt different. It was a big ugly thing, it would be lousy for CC I guess.
After a couple thousand rounds (friend shooting it) it still looks brand new.
The grip felt great to my large paws.
