Did the AK beat you? 😂
This time, yes. Everyone did. I finished dead last for the first time. (Sad face)

I have to tell the backstory.
I started using a Garand in these matches as a scheme cooked up with one of the match creators. We used to hear people talking about what new gadget they planned to buy next to make them shoot better. We just had to mess with that.

We decided to use some out-of-the-ordinary rifles with the hopes of making a point. Neither of us would win with a gee-whiz rifle, but switching to a Garand or FAL would only drop us to somewhere in the middle, and a little lower with a bolt action.

And no, neither of us could claim mesmerizing skill let us overcome the challenge. We were helped by my buddy being one of the match directors. Requirements to start with downloaded mags to force at least one mag change, courses of fire that favored accuracy, and targets grouped in small bunches that allowed reloading while moving between them assisted us a lot. As far as I know, nobody realized the deck was stacked. We made our point, and at least a couple of people decided maybe they should practice before buying new things.

Yesterday, the only thing in my favor was a couple of stages started with 10 rounds in the gun to force mag changes. One particular miserable stage required three rounds per target. Eight rounds in the gun doesn’t divide by three very well at all.
The origin of our shenanigans was 10-15 years ago. I’m older now, and nothing is done fast anyway.

Edited to add: My raw time was almost 3.5 times the winner’s!

Hi,

Remember to pray for our country this July 4th, and always. Pray that most of our citizens keep and cherish the ideals this country was founded upon, life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness. May we continue to hold Truth self-evident, and not fall prey to the lies of evil.

"...if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2nd Chronicles 7:14

God bless America, land tha I love.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
