Has anyone here ever.... ?

I'm eternally curious about how resizing dies manipulate the brass and I'm constantly in search of "the perfect die" for whatever cartridge / rifle combo that I'm focused on at the moment. It is a matter of constant fascination for me to compare various dies by various makers, all of which purport to "return the cartridge case to SAAMI dimensions."

Which leads me to my question: Has anyone here taken a CerroSafe casting of BOTH their rifle chamber AND their resizing die and compared the two? I know, it might be a silly exercise, but I am curious. If you've done this, did you learn anything new and/or surprising?

My one best friend who passed years ago was a benchrest shooter, if I remember right he did a cast of his chamber to find the actual dimension of the chamber and mainly the neck for him to get the right bushing for his die, which had replaceable neck sizes. His dies were specifically for benchrest competitions

That would be one use for a chamber cast. I've seen the use of a CerroSafe chamber casting recommended by custom die makers as a method of providing precise chamber dimensions. It's also useful to help identify (or verify) what a gun with a "mystery chambering" is actually chambered for. I'm sure that other creative minds have come up with additional purposes for a CerroSafe chamber casting.

I've just never seen anyone mention using CerroSafe to obtain die dimensions.
