Hellcat 9mm Magazine - Rounds not aligning with witness holes

I'm a first-time handgun owner who recently purchased a Hellcat and two additional magazines, for a total of (1) 11-round, (2) 13-round and (1) 15-round. I also purchased Federal 9mm Luger 124 grain ammo. After shooting a couple rounds in each magazine, I've noticed that hardly any of the rounds are lining up with the witness holes. It's hard to believe that this would be happening with all 4 magazines, even when they are almost brand new. Is this a common problem with these magazines or am I doing something wrong? Tips and suggestions will be much appreciated. TIA!

i have a Hellcat as well, with 2, 15 rd mags. if you mean that you must see the primer in each hole,, i don't think so.

i see the head and various views of each head thru the witness holes.

i just checked my 17 rd Glock, and that too, only a small portion of the cartridge head shows in each hole.

Cobgratukations on your first handgun. Enjoy, and consider professional training. I have had magazines where you see either the top or bottom of the round in the hole. Just enough that you can count the rounds. Very few have seemed to line up perfectly.

I just look for the shine of brass. They work.

Mine is the same way, actually I never pay attention to those holes, I just count how many I put in mag.

As long as your mags run without failure, no apparent problem.

Every mag I have ever owned no matter the gun has been the same way. Count as you load it and run your gun and enjoy it.

Witness holes in all of my mags always seem to be slightly off. If you can see any of the round through that hole, that's pretty much as good as it gets. I wouldn't stress about it. If the mags are feeding and you are having no malfunctions, then they are doing their job.

There’s no specific part of the shell that’s supposed to line up. If you can see a shell in the 12 hole but not the 13 hole, you have 12 rounds loaded.
