I plan on being in San Antonio in October for a wedding. I've been thinking it would be great to book a Hog Hunt for that time period. I figure I could kill to birds with one stone. I've been looking online and have found numerous ranches that offer hunts. Just curious if any forum members have hunted this area and have recommendations. If things work out I plan to use my Taurus Raging Bull in 454 Casull.

No!, but I've been in the area and it will be a challenge! Get them while they stand, if not they can be gone quick. Especially in the hill country! The ones in my area aren't usually out in the day.

There are apparently no shortage of hunting methods offered at the ranches I've checked out. Stands, blinds, day hunts, night hunts, Zip line hunts, even helicopter hunts. I'm sure I'll find something.

Try to get a nightime hog hunt with thermals if the guide service offers it.

massive amounts of fun. I own Flir Thermals and do night hog hunts on our deer lease.

at night, hogs are very relaxed and in their own element. No natural predator in texas will go after an adult hog, so you can walk within 20 yards of hogs at night on average. Majority of the time the hogs just get a little more skittish and move around a little bit, but dont run away like the day.

you can lay waste with an AR platform- thermal at 20 yards...

I hope feral hogs never make it to MT but they're close just across the border in Canada.

The Canucks need to wipe-out the small population of hogs on their side of the border, or let some US hunters in to do it without MSR/gear restrictions.
