i would NOT shoot 40s/w in a 10mm semi-auto.............revolver is fine, but no way in hell is it safe to shoot the 40 in a 10...............i'm sure some have but w/o a rim to headspace on it relies on the mouth to seal gas from coming back. can't really compare rimmed cases to non-rimmed on a 38/357, 44spl/mag and other close to the same cartridges within the same caliber.........................i can't stand when they use caliber for cartridge!
Back jn 1992 I was stationed at Malmstrom AFB Montana and the 10mm was fairly popular. We hosted a match wor Police Week and some schmuck local cop from around Dillion had a S&W 1006 but said his son packed the wrong ammo and he had 40 cal. He ran it and it actually worked bur yeah I wouldn’t recommend that ever outside a wheelgun.
That said 10mm or 380 penetration and shot placement are all that matter. If you can’t do that higher velocity, expansion and mag capacity aren't going to make up for You!

I am admittedly guilty of doing this. I shoot .40 out of my 10mm quite a bit.
