How do you handle SCAM calls

We all get them. Ive tried blocking them; but they just come from a new number.

When it was a live caller I used to ask for the callers credit card and social security numbers before we proceeded. That usually ended the call and at least I got a chuckle. If I was in a mood, I told the caller I was surrounded by sharks or terrorists, or or or, and asked for their help.

Now more and more Im getting AI calls that react to someone answering the phone. They tell me they are completing a loan request. If you hang up or dont answer you get a voice mail. Requesting to be placed on the do not call list is a waste of time. So Ive started calling the number back. This gets you a live person. I ask to speak to someone who speaks English not garbled accented English. That usually gets a hang up.

If its a women and Im feeling particularly spicey, I ask what colour underwear they are wearing. One told me none, so I told her neither was I. I thought we had a connection, then she hung up....could have been my ex wife

And I thought I was the only one that did things like that 🤣🤣🤣🤣20 years ago I had 1 that kept calling while I was on the night shift, waking me up. I told her 3 different times I was on the night shift and to quit calling. Last time I asked if she was wearing any undergarments, she hung up. Her supervisor called 3 hrs later, complaining about my question, I asked her the same question. They stopped calling. Yes the phone was on as I had a child in school. So case of an emergency they could contact me.🤣🤣🤣

I don't exactly how this works, but my iPhone (haven't had a land line in years) will not ring if the number is not in my contacts. Problem with spam solved!

If a message is left, I'll listen to it, but spam callers rarely leave messages.

If its a text, my phone kicks that over to another list I have to go look for.

Bottom line, I ain't had a problem with spam in years.

we still have an old fashioned answering machine.

more than not, no messages are left.

of the few times someone does leave a message, it is the same voice, the SAME message, and yes too, a different number each time.

anytime i tried calling that number they used to call me..??

i get something like, "this number does not take calls"...like WTF, someone called me from that number.

i too have repeatedly filed a complaint with the FCC, regarding robo calls, with semi-quasi results.

I let it ring while I check the caller ID. 98.6% of them are out-of-state.

For those 99% of the time they don't leave a message so I write the number down & clear the number from the machine. If the number is repeated I block it with my provider.

I get some from my area code so I answer them & it turns out some :poop:-head has stolen my # so I tell those folks that I didn't call them & ignore my # since its folks elsewhere in the state (we only have one area code).

In today's world, why not use your cell phone for that? It comes standard with voice mail. And if you have an iphone, you can screen calls and messages.

If the number isn't in my contacts, the call can go to voice mail. Most don't leave a message. If the voice message indicates that it was a call I needed to take, I'll call back.

i am old......i and the old wife like our landline.

if i could, i'd like to have back the 85,000 pound night stand phone we once did......

the "most modern electronic gizmo" in this house we have is this 1999 HP desktop computer.

we still watch tv on our 1939 black and white vacuum tube tv with an AM radio dial radio.....

and we also still use our Ovaltine decoder ring.

I usually don't answer them if no name appears, but sometimes fell froogy and mess with them. The guys i will tell them i'm trans and looking for a hunk of a man and ask for their number. I never got a number yet, :( if it's a female i sometimes tell them i'm a painter and would they pose nude for me.

Most of the time, I don't answer. If I answer, I speak to them in Russian saying "I don't speak English, do you speak Russian?" If they continue in English, I raise my voice and say 'NYE ANGLISKI, RUSSKI". That usually prompts a hangup on their part. My phone also has a one button block which is used often.
