I've been hemming for 1-2 years on a spotting scope. For use only on the range, max out to 300 yards, so I know I don't need to drop $3k...still hemming....but I'm pretty sure I don't want to spend Leupold money.

There's a "low end" spotting scope in the target house at the club that works just fine.

I have been using my Vortex 10x42s lately.

Of course that's only out to 200 yards.
