I am not familiar with this, but I was not familiar with the Ken Onion at first.

Stone sharpening just is not that difficult.
Yeah, that's not the one I have and I agree that's way to much money for me to spend on a knife sharpener. I bought mine several years ago and I believe the price I paid was $399 and looks like the one below and the case wasn't an option. One of the benefits about this sharpener is you really can't mess up the blade. I guarantee if someone gets one they will sharpen every knife in the house just because it works so well.
