Hi,

I have a Bond Arms Derringer, 4" barrel, in .45ACP.

I plan to carry it as backup as soon as I get an ankle holster for it. I can't win any competitions with it, but it will do in a pinch at close range. The single action trigger is heavier than my striker fired pistols and my pinkie won't fit on the grip. Recoil is managable. It's a simple piece that gets the job done.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

i'm waiting for them to make a 50bmg derringero_O..........@BET7 probably has 1 or 2🤣

Derringers are great and fun little guns. There is a trick to shooting derringers. Pull back AND down on the trigger, although I seem to recall that Bond has fixed/helped the trigger issue on some of the newer models. Always take extra ammo to the range, everybody and their brother will want to shoot it. You can have the latest greatest recycled Tupperware, the sharpest custom 1911, or a XX cal. Mosse massing revolver and it's the derringer everyone wants to shoot. There is no reason not to have a handgun just fun, :poop: & giggles, but since most people seem to think than a handgun has to be practical if not tacticool... Back in my youth (when I did a lot of stupid things with stupid people in stupid places) all I carried was a FIE .38 derringer and a Buck 112. I could place both shots reasonably quickly on a paper plate at 10 yards point shooting. Nice to know if I was ever attacked by a paper plate;). Mozambique drills are a son-of-a-gun as are the newest "must have skill" Dicken's drill. Still better than a harsh word or a mean look and, JMHO, a knife. No apologies to all the knife experts out there. Let the hate begin.

I had a Bond “Snake Slayer” I carried here on the farm for a few years. A 3” .410 with 6 shot will dust a reptile. That said, worst trigger I ever handled. Replaced it with a 3” model 60 Smith. First round is shot, remainder are .357. Is lighter, works just as well on snakes and will nail Wile Coyote should he get adventurous.

I did the same putting snake shot in a Model 629. Problem was, recoil from the first shot backed the little shot cups out of the cases just enough to bind the cylinder and make it a single shot. Never had that problem with the deringer, and I could load it with .410 skeet loads.

My cousin took the Michigan CPL course same day i did. He showed up with a Bond 45/410 derringer for the 100 round shooting session. About 20 or 30 rounds in he was practically crying. Ended up finishing with a borrowed pistol, one of mine.

Handy neat Lil things but he found out not for extended range sessions lol.

Oh come on ya got to just once. Even with my stiff arthritic hands I would shoot it once. I would attach about six feet of orange tape to it so we could find it in the grass after it flew out of my hands, but I would damn sure give it a go. Then sometimes I'm not the sharpest knife in the draw.

My wrists are bad enough and I'm not even 40 yet. Not trying to accelerate it lol
