We are about 30 miles north of the shore in farm country. The back half of the homestead will flood when the creek overflows but the buildings are high and dry. Our buildings have survived 135 mph sustained winds in previous hurricanes. We have a whole house generator and the buildings are shuttered. We'll be on the west side of the storm which is good as the east side is the dirty side. We'll get lots of howling wind and driving rain when the storm gets to us We have had a lot of rain and will get a lot more from the storm. Roads will be flooded in low lying areas. Our biggest concern is with the ground saturated trees will fall from the wind, blocking some roadways.. Power will go down from trees falling on the lines. We have enough diesel on hand to run the generator for about 10 days. We have enough canned and frozen food to last the duration. Tomorrow we'll see how much chain saw and tractor work will be needed. Been here, done this before. So you know, just routine Florida life in hurricane country.
