I didn’t die

Condition1

Master Class
Just thought I would let everyone know why I haven’t been on and posting anything. I’m nursing my back because I have been in a lot of pain and trying to not go to my back surgeon. But that didn’t work. I fought it for a couple months. I went last week and saw him because I’m 💩 myself and not knowing when I do. Also as soon as I feel like I need to drain my bladder I have to go right then or **** myself. I’ve got to have another surgery or wear a diaper for the rest of my life. I can’t remember the name of what is going on but it’s called saddle something. More or less if you’re sitting in a saddle and everything that touches the saddle is numb. I’m eating oxycodone 7.5mg like they are M&M’s without much relief. I had to have a CT scan for the Dr to decide if I can get by with just one fusion which will have my whole lumbar fused. If I have to have more than 1 fusion he will have to remove all the hardware in my back and redo all of it. Which will be a lot more extensive and will take a lot longer to recover. Either way I’m looking at 3 months of not being able to lift over 5 pounds. Not looking forward to this at all.

My wife has a cage in her back, for about 20 years now. Takes a combo of Percocet and morphine for it. Again for 20+ years,so not an addict. Constant pain, with the same problem as you. She was told that cage removal was impossible and doc did not recommend additional metal in her back. At 78, she had to grin and bear it.

I really understand what she is going through and it sucks. I have always gotten good results with the past back surgeries I’ve had. I went almost 15 years in between surgeries but I spent the last 5 years in a lot of pain. I’m 65 in decent shape and better than average health. I try to stay as active as possible and without the surgeries I would be in a lot worse shape than now.

i never heard the term for it

but YEs SIR the i got to go NOW then you cant because the back nerves wont let the bladder parts relax to let it flow
or they say screw you and off it goes
will pray for you to get a healed (y) (y)
i lived that shiiit for years before we found a brave surgeon to fix the nerves and crap that was crushed up

AI Overview

Bowel incontinence combined with spinal stenosis is a medical emergency. It strongly indicates that severe nerve compression is affecting the lower spinal nerves. This alarming symptom cluster often points to a condition called cauda equina syndrome, which requires immediate evaluation at a hospital emergency room.
Alliance Orthopedics +2

Understanding the Connection
    • Nerve Compression: Severe narrowing of the spinal canal (stenosis) can heavily squeeze the bundle of nerves at the base of the spine that control the bowel and anal sphincter.
    • Signal Disruption: When these nerves are crushed, the brain loses its ability to monitor and control bowel function properly.
      The UK Spine Centre +3

Critical Red Flag Symptoms
Seek
immediate emergency medical care if your spinal stenosis is accompanied by any of these warning signs:

    • Loss of bowel or bladder control (incontinence or inability to hold waste)
    • Sudden inability to urinate or empty the bowels (retention)
    • Numbness or a "pins and needles" feeling in the groin, buttocks, and inner thighs (known as saddle anesthesia)
    • Rapidly progressive weakness, numbness, or loss of feeling in one or both legs
    • Severe, unrelenting lower back and radiating leg pain

Next Steps
    • Go to the ER: Do not wait for a regular doctor's appointment if you have new bowel incontinence with spinal stenosis.
    • Surgical Evaluation: Cauda equina syndrome typically requires urgent diagnostic imaging (like an MRI) and often emergency spinal surgery to relieve pressure on the nerves and prevent permanent paralysis or loss of function.

If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms right now, please go to the nearest emergency room immediately.

Yes, prayers for you. Nerve damage in that part of your body is very inconvenient. May blessings of healing be multiplied upon you.

Such a strong and determined lady. I pray peace and comfort for her as well.

Yeah I’m fused from L-2 L-3 all the way to S-1. The only problems with fusions is it puts more pressure on the vertebra above it.

Yeah I’m experiencing all the things listed except not being able to empty my bladder. I’ve had a MRI and now CT scan which is all he needs to make the decision for what he needs to do. If one Fusion is lol I need that’s what I want him to do rather than going in and having to remove and replace all the hardware in my back already which would be a very long and painful surgery.

1) when i got interviewed by my surgeon, i was asked more than once, if i lost "control" of my bodily functions, which i repeatedly said NO. as THAT would have been a more serious situation, rendering FAST surgery.

2) i had my first back operation in the spring of 2000...the 3/4 Lower fused.

3) i got hurt in April of 2014, which now, the first operation i had back in 2000, had to be "revised", due to another disc being destroyed.

4) there had to be 2 more surgeries due to complications

5) pain...??? seriously speaking, the very first operation i used up all the morphine the hospital had, or it seemed so...in the end..?? i really didn't need it.....the pains i felt were actually from the stitching of the skin, pulling against the skin, at least, that's my thought on that......Tylenol, yes, plain simple Tylenol was all i took...when i got home, even though i had scripts for more powerful...DRUGS...!!!!

my surgeries' in 2014, 2015 1/2, and then again in 2017, all of them i had scripts for oxys, Naproxen and Tylenol 3........if i took all of 4 Oxy's it was too much to take...these times, all the pain was again.. from where the skin was put together, this time using staples.....the god damned staples were horrendous, and taking them out was no freaking pic-ah-nic.

internally, i felt nuffin, nuffin at all....and that ain't no lie.

Some years ago I faced pretty much the very same situation. Ended up with a 3 level fusion and eating half again more Oxycodone daily as well as 30mgs of MSsulfate (morphine). was told I couldn't lift more than 5 pounds for the same 3 months ... hated that but finally reserved myself that I'd just have to sit down to pee for that 3 months. ;):)
The part about having to sit down is kinda sketchy, but all the rest is true. You have my sympathy and best wishes my friend.

Thanks everyone for the prayers. The last back surgery I was getting pain meds every hour and a half. Dilatid the hour and a half oxycodone. Not looking forward to this surgery but I am looking forward to the relief I’ll get. Surgery pain is bad but temporary.
