I feel like @Belt Fed or @BET7 .
2 guns in 2 weeks. I picked up a SA M1A from my range. It was one of their rentals and has less than 500 rounds through it. I only saw it on the firing line 3x and i was one of those times.

I got it for a steal ($750) but noticed a small crack in the op rod.

I will call SA tomorrow to see if they will cover it under warranty. I hope they do because I can’t find them anywhere.

When I got mine, it became my favorite rifle very quickly...(std-loaded-walnut stock). Might be my fond memories of the movie with privates Joker, Tex and Pyle....

Nice rifle, those guns are remarkably accurate. if you can't find a rod that would be an easy fix no worse than it is.

Going to call tomorrow. Their warranty is only good for the original owner. I picked it up as the second owner so i’m sort of out of luck. Hopefully the can do something to help.

Well, it seems from prior posts, you’re known around here as 2 a day 2A Belt Fed (are there any guns left for sale in Arkansas ). But I’ll shortly post about some of my recent acquisitions trying feebly to keep pace with 2 a day 2A Mister Belt Fed

Looks i have to send the rifle back to SA. They won't sell an op rod only, saying it has to be fitted to the rifle. Not sure if I'm buyin' that.
I have to go through my FFL since, well, NJ... I hope that my FFL doesn't shut its doors before the repair is complete (they are most likely going out of business).
The op rod itself is reasonably priced at $118, but I'm still hoping they honor the warranty even though I'm not original owner. There may be a loophole since the warranty states, "original retail purchaser". Technically, I am the original retail purchaser since I bought it directly from the retailer.
