I just ate an MRE,

dated from 1994. This was part of a box of government issue MRE's that I had. It was beef stew and it tasted good, no strange taste that I noticed. The cherry cake dessert was still moist and tasted good. I didn't try the cracker or the peanut butter.

That was about a half an hour ago,(1700 hrs) so it might be too soon tell what my fate might be.

Well, seems you have solved your toilet paper problem. Now we just have to feed them to the monkeys hoarding it.

Hey - my dad was in the US Army from 1959 to 1962, and tells me that when on maneuvers in the snow in upstate New York in the winter, they were issued C rations that were leftovers from WWII and Korea. If you were lucky you got to thaw the can out on top of the engine block of a jeep, or so he says.
