First time I really saw a wall cloud was at the beach. That’s one thing about living with mountains surrounding you your limited to just a few miles of visibility. We were at Gulf Shores on the balcony early in the morning when a wall cloud was moving in. There was several water spouts which were cool to watch until one got close enough to start throwing stuff around. We went inside to watch the rest.

Flames aside, PHX gets what they call Haboobs. A wall of dust blowing from the east with half of NM and parts of West Texas landing in Phoenix. I'll try to find a picture of one.

Those are DUST STORMS! Grew up in Phoenix and we called them that. Some hifaluting easterners moved there and started calling them ha boobs to sound fancy. Hell with them.

Why a Haboob is Different from a Standard Dust Storm
While all haboobs are dust storms, not all dust storms are haboobs. A standard dust storm can be caused by general windy conditions, but a haboob is a specific phenomenon driven by a thunderstorm
