I'm at my wit's end. Trying to mount little baskets in my shower (for the women in my house, of course) and the mounting tape that it comes with is garbage. Tried a few different brands. Even went so far as to get aluminum (the best material for the shower, I figure) angle bars at Home Depot and drilled holes in them to use zip ties to mount the baskets.
I tried 3M extreme mounting tape, VBH mounting tape, Gorilla, and a few others, to no avail. The VHB did the best, lasting about 3 months before falling off.
I cleaned the tiles with softscrub, then windex, then 99% IPA. I let them set for 72 hours before applying weight and covered them in painter's tape to keep moisture off.
Like I said, I'm at my wit's end. Figured I'd check here and see if anyone was a pro at this kind of stuff. Before I turn to mechanical connections and start buying tile drill bits, I wanted to give chemical solutions one last chance. I was thinking about something like Liquid Nails, or a variation of it since there are dozens of Liquid nails.
I know nothing about ceramic tile or adhesives, so I don't want to just grab something and give it a shot. I'm tired of nothing working.
Any advice? TIA
