I've Had My Fill - Looking For Recommendations

I've had it with Portland. I'm going to relocate. Southern Idaho, Utah, and Oklahoma are my prime target locations thus far. I'm not keen on harsh weather nor am I thrilled about tornadoes even though I see those possibilities with the locations I am considering.

I'm looking for solid Red with strong 2A mindsets.

Feedback and other potential considerations will be greatly appreciated.

My entire life has been lived in SoCal, NorCal, and the PNW to give you some insight into how I am acclimated.

Thank you for your wisdom.
Man, I lived and worked in the PNW back in the mid-80's it was a different time course. The scenic beauty and abundance of outdoor activities at your beck and call are unparalleled.
That was then and I only got to enjoy all it had to offer for 3 yrs. while my tour of duty moved me along.
But the political climate has dramatically changed as I understand.

Lived in Phoenix for about 2 years, North side of the loop. Didn't mind it as I worked less than a mile away.

Was thinking more South around the Willcox area. I can deal with the heat much easier than I can cold anymore.
Well, it you like isolation, Wilcox is good for that. Only occasional tourists heading south. If you are retired military, Sierra Vista is by Fort Huachuca. Other nor that, south of Tucson has lots of very small towns, although I wouldn’t get to close to the border.

Isolation is my friend .... I have no problem with that.

Cornyn is a Democrat.
Truer words were never written. As for the rest, pretty accurate. If I was relocating,

#1 would be no State tax (and no recent legislation to try and change it).

#2 would be 2A. While Texas is Constitutional Carry now, I like the fact that I can keep my license to carry up to date (very cost friendly) and then be in and out of a gun purchase in a few minutes.

#3 would be a LOT less blue state transplants than Texas currently has and is gaining - mainly because they bring their (D) voting with them, seemingly not being able to realize that’s what completely ruined the state they evacuated from.

#4 would be cost of living

#5 would be climate

#6 would be ability to find a mid size (100-200k) city to move to, hours from the nearest urban blight.

But then again, I’m retired so don’t have to seek employment. It also means I’ll stick out Texas since I’m well on the downhill side of drawing breath - well, unless transplanted Californians and New Yorkers succeed in destroying what makes Texas Texas - then all bets are off!

No state income tax although sales tax is 9.75% so its awash. Real estate is one of the BEST bangs for the buck...but the secret got out no too long ago.
No more "Blue Law" you can buy alcohol on Sundays.
