Jay Leno just made a statement "there is no middle class anymore"

It could have been a damn sight worse and when I think on what really matters, I'm in pretty good shape.
It's always good for me to appreciate what I have.

If I didn't have grandkids I wouldn't care much about the trends.

National Debt trumps* all classifications of distributed wealth, anyway. Things will change.

*("trumps" here being a verb, and not the POTUS, but it's still punny).

Based on current U.S. Census Bureau and economic tracker breakdowns, annual household income ranges divide into the following brackets:
  • Poverty Line / Below Poverty: Under $32,000
    Lower Class: $32,000 – $55,000
    Lower-Middle Class: $55,000 – $84,000
    True Middle Class: $84,000 – $125,000
    Upper-Middle Class: $125,000 – $167,000
    Upper Class: $167,000 and above
According to this, I'm in the lower class.
That's kinda weird. All this time I was thinking I was quite comfortable. Guess I'll just have to learn how to be miserable.

I don't worry trouble myself with things like how big/how small the middle class is. I'm not envious of others wealth and the hard-hearted SOB that I am not overly concerned with the plight of the poor. (we have the richest poor people in the world) I just keep my head down and trudging on, and work at staying content with were I ended up. It could have been a damn sight worse and when I think on what really matters, I'm in pretty good shape.
Although I largely agree with you, don't lose sight of the fact that as the foundation you and I stand on is chipped away, we are that much closer to poverty.

That's correct...had them
..Is there one or two of those listed I regret parting with...you bet.
I'll bet.. I've got cars I wish I'd kept- and cars I wish I'd bought.

The point I was trying to make, though- imagine having something like a Pro/street Camaro NOW that needed a smog test every couple of years if you wanted to drive it on the street...
Imagine- if you make a hundred quarter-mile passes in that time, you'll have driven only 25 miles (yeah, i know, not really) before you have to put a stock motor back in and hook up stock exhaust for another smog test....

Most of Leno's cars don't need smog tests anyway. He worked on that smog exemption for the car community, not for himself. Worked against the increasing sentiment that old cars are evil and unsafe.

I'll applaud him and thank him for that. His show isn't a comedy show. His show is a car show.

And as much as I love Ferrari, I love Leno's stance as to why he won't have one. The man has principles.

I'll have to eat crow and digress to say the man knows a thing or two about steam driven vehicles. I'd venture to say there aren't many out there that not only has as much in-depth knowledge of them but also understands the theory and progression.

He loves his steam mobiles.

Wasn't he working on one when he burned his face ?
