Joined the NRA

Just a tangential note: I have my FPC membership set up for monthly recurring. And a benefit of that, right now, is that it's not illegal for me to carry in a post office. FPC and SAF were part of this ruling... NRA was not.

I do that with FPC also, and right after I submitted it I got thanked and then about another hour later an email asking for more $$$ 😂. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I will just ignore them until a time I can afford to send them another donation on top of the monthly amount. Yeah, the post office ruling was nice, they also urged members to apply for out of state Carry Permits from California as they won a case for members there too. They did say it was urgent, as the California legislators were supposedly crafting a new law to prevent this. I looked into it and it appears you'd have to take an in person class (among other requirements), to obtain a carry permit (nope, I'm not flying from Pennsylvania to California for that).
I will say this about the FPC, they are very quick to respond to problems you contact them about. I had an issue where I wasn't found in the new membership lookup site, and sent a reply asking why I didn't appear there, (as I know I'm a current yearly member since May 2025). Someone sent my email reply over to FPC Support and they responded the same night indicating that I appeared under an obsolete email address (which they corrected and assured me I was indeed a current member and thanked me for continued financial support).

Yesterday I saw that the day before was the NRA anniversary, so I started looking around on their website. I chose to take the plunge in getting a membership with them. Got subscription to AR and I am also supposed to receive a pretty good size bag, pin, and decals. The only thing that was a little disgruntling for me is it didnt take them but about five seconds to hit me up for more money to donate to them to help them out. That wasnt cool after just paying them several hundred dollars!!! I hope this is not what it is going to be from here on out always asking for donations. You long term members does the NRA constantly hound you for donations???
Yup,
They hound you incessantly. I joined because I enjoy the education/training courses they sponsor locally. I don’t particularly like their monthly publications because more than half of their content is purely political. I look forward to my monthly Armory magazine.

Hi,

I'm also an NRA member, renew every three years or so. (At my age a lifetime membership doesnt make much sense.) I donate occasionally to several organizations that I feel are doing good work, as the Spirit leads me. Otherwise I ignore all the solicitations. Since donations are their lifeblood, I don't hold it against them.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
