Big time eye candy. Even has the original hang tag. $139.00 new. Not a cheap gun for 1949. About $1,900. in today's money. If I was a rich man, I'd shoot it!

Nah, Isn't the 220 Swift a barrel burner?Just jump on your jet and fly in to by it![]()
The steel of the time contributed to the 220s reputation. When Ackley put a different shoulder angle and case taper on the cartridge it improves some.Nah, Isn't the 220 Swift a barrel burner?
fair enuf'Different strokes for different folks
Not really, owned 2 of them, both Ruger’s, barrel life depends on how hot the ammo you use. Some factory ammo was hot, the older Swift rifles did have barrels burn out, but newer rifles not so much, Ruger’s, are very durable in this caliber.Nah, Isn't the 220 Swift a barrel burner?
There's a lot to be said about that. I have the 1967 Colt 1911 that may be unfired. I won't ever sell it, but again, I can't get myself to go shoot it...yet. It's a conundrum in my noggin. Maybe I need firearm ownership counselling.Thats a cool gun, and I love that its NIB but I dont get having a gun as an unfired collector item. Its kinda like having the HOT girl friend that you never have sex with to keep her nice for the next guy....or maybe the 6s Corvette that you park in your living room. Whats the point?
I really enjoy my .17 HMR. I've got that thing tuned to hit nickel size. Never had such an accurate rifle.I love the Swift. Superb varmint round. I’d dearly love to have that rifle, but I Would shoot it-I don’t get buying one just to look at![]()
Ain't that the truth! I get on a vintage vehicle auction site and watch the results. People drop a few hundred thousand or a million on a vehicle, like it's nothing. Other things too, like a set of Ferrari luggage for $7K or a Ferrari tool kit for $2K.Thousands to some is tens to others.
