Daniel Penny found not guilty in subway chokehold trial
A Manhattan jury has reached its verdict in the Daniel Penny's trial in the death of Jordan Neely, who died after a May 2023 subway chokehold.
So what do you get suing a 20 something former Marine?Unfortunately he will now be sued civilly by Neely's parents/family (who had no contact with their son for years), and likely will lose a crap-ton of money. Hopefully I'm wrong.
What insurance company ? His "Subway good samaritan" insurance company ?wrongful death suits rarely pay more than 100k, most average people have no money anyway. The party to sue is not the Marine, in this case, but rather his insurance company. Only a junior sues the actual person.
You get to further screw with his future. Fricking civil lawsuits anyway. If you’re innocent, you’re freaking innocent (and he should have been treated as a hero by the city in the first place). Frankly I have no use for most lawyers-they are parasites living off the misery of others. I am totally sick of the way the “justice” system caters to the thugs and persecutes the victim/good guy.So what do you get suing a 20 something former Marine?
almost all regular folks have what is called an umbrella policy, commonly added to your house/auto insurance policy as a rider. It is that policy that can be called to pay out should you commit a "tort" under law. What insurance company ? His "Subway good samaritan" insurance company ?
The average in middle America is 100-300K. NYC I’d presume would be moreI wonder what it cost him in legal fees to defend himself? Travesty.
His legal defense fund brought in over $2 million in donations.I wonder what it cost him in legal fees to defend himself? Travesty.
While no doubt the Oenny case was complete BE as he reacted and should have never been brought.Florida, and some other conservative states have immunity from civil liability if the use of force is justified under the criminal statutes. Being acquitted of charges in effect makes it justified in this context. George Zimmerman could not be sued in Florida but has been involved in several other legal entanglements since shootng Trayvon. That was another criminal case that should never have been filed but the prosecutor was from a pocket of east coast liberals.
If they want to move to Florida from the communist states OK, but leave those stupid liberal ideas behind.
Zimmerman banked on his celebrity and 10 years after his trial his net worth is estimated by some accounts beteeen $2-10 million.
