Kuna brace recommendation...

Hello,

After looking all over I found and bought the new Springfield Kuna, but all the brace ones were sold out, so I got a braceless one figuring to get an aftermarket brace.

I did a Google search and got good recommendations but before I make a purchase decision kinda want to hear what people in the know might think, like most of you.

Any aftermarket recommendations for a brace? I'm also looking to add a stop plate up front, kinda can't believe they didn't include one. All my AR pistols and my Sig MPX did, oh well.

Thanks in advance. Attached is a pic of my new baby, along with one I found online. Like that brace but no clue what it is, if anyone knows.

Thx.

While I'm here... was looking to put a green dot on top but I have a $1200 ACOG I bought then replaced for one of my AR's... it's just sitting in the closet, too big and unnecessary for a PDW like this Kuda? Opinions? Thx.

I have the strike industries stabilizer brace on mine. it will fold both ways. the pic shows the stock which i immediately took off as it is illegal and ordered the stabilizer. i also have a Hawke 4x prism sight that i love on it.

Yeah, that's the one that comes with the Kuna if you order the model with a brace (like I did and I'm still waiting ). It looks like a good brace after I looked it up on the Strike Industries website.

Not sure what that is in your 2nd picture.
Be careful and make certain you buy a brace and Not a stock.
You don’t want to create an SBR NFA item without going through the proper process.
It appears to be in stock here.

Myself and some people at the range all say the same thing. Not sure how they are calling that a brace 😂

Hi Magnum, congrats on the Kuna (y). The picture you show has a Stock (not a brace) and a vertical fore grip, thus making it a SBR (Short Barrel Rifle), requiring ATF Paperwork and $200 tax stamp. Throw in more paperwork and another $200 for the suppressor on it (as the laws are currently written). As I and other posters have mentioned, the brace that SA is shipping with the Kuna (you can get it with the brace or without), is the Strike Industries brace you can either see/get from them or potentially other online places like Midway USA, Optics Planet, Brownells, A3 Industries, etc.
As another poster mention, be careful not to get a stock as braces and stocks are getting more and more difficult to discern. Read descriptions carefully, and you could always call the vendor to ensure it's a brace if that's what your after. I believe the Strike Industries brace has a removable end piece (part with the strap) that you can replace with another end piece that makes it a stock (part that's also sold by Strike Industries and perhaps others). If that was installed, it would make the Kuna a SBR.
I'm sure there are other braces for the Kuna available from the places listed previously, perhaps even SB Tactical has a brace for the Kuna available already . Good luck in your search.

For most of my PCCs, I throw a Sig Romeo 5 on them (I bought a bunch of Romeo 5's a while back, and just throw them on when I get another PCC or short pistol in rifle caliber (like 300 BLK)). One of the Romeo 5s I had was a Green dot, so I know Sig makes them. Holosun also makes Green dot optics and I now have a few on some of my pistol handguns.

Holosun makes the Romeo 5. There is a Holosun version of it as well. I’ve not seen a Romeo 5 in green. The gen 2 look pretty good.

Right you are Bob, it is a Romeo MSR that’s the green dot (they also come in red). Besides the Romeo 5, I also have several Romeo MSRs (mostly in red), that are less costly than the 5s

Just a thought here. I’d also urge you to verify it’s a “Brace” vs stock. Plus, if it was mine, I’d get a copy of the paperwork clearly showing it IS a brace and keep it in the case you carry it in. What you Don’t need is the hassle of shooting your new toy only to have some Karen claim it’s an SBR😏. The whole brace vs stock SBR vs Pistol thing is pretty stupid but it IS the law and you do not need to get ATF on your butt.

Well, she's finished, now ready for some serious range testing. (Still trying to decide if I want to put a suppressor on it, got 2 already that would fit.)

I ordered the Strike duel folding adapter stabilizer. Think near the same one that ships but this one folds both ways. Also added a A3 Industries hand stop. And I had a left over Holosun red dot that I put on. Would prefer a newer, green dot model but didn't want to spend another 400 bucks. Reds fine, just prefer green now-a-days.

You all need to call both of your senators now, the bill to remove silencer and SBR/SBS restrictions is in front of the Senate right now. Tell them to support the SHORT act and the Hearing Protection act. The call takes about 30 seconds per senator. The time to act is now.

I picked up a Kuna a few weeks ago and finally got out to the range to get it sighted in. It came with the Strike Industries Brace, and I hate it. Not very comfortable to shoot at all. I was looking at what other options SB Tactical has as far as a 1913 brace because I don't want to SBR it if it's just going to go away soon anyway. I was looking at the MPX PSB, FS1913, FS1913A, and the TF1913. I'd like to keep the option of folding it but want something more comfortable to fire. I was wanting to know if anyone knows if the MPX PSB would work since they're both 1913 picatinny or if there was some weird reason why it wouldn't work.

I got the single fold Strike, about $175 all said and done to get it to me. I thought it was defective as I couldn't get it to fold. Mounted it on the Kuna and emailed seller about the problem. I was told to get enough leverage to fold it the thing would need to be mounted. In the next sentence, they told me to review the return policy about items that had been mounted, I assumed it was no returns.

I went the pistol route to avoid the paperwork of the SBR having a stock, the only real difference being a wider butt to plant in your shoulder as opposed to the blade like butt of the stabilizer.

I pried with a screwdriver and got it to fold, pried from the bottom of the hinge moving it up. I spent a few minutes working the screwdriver to pry it up and down, it will take more to loosen it up to operate it easily.

There is a slot for a strap to be used but mine didn't come with a strap or instructions, in fact nothing but the brace in the folded-out position. Well, I'm not that stupid, I got it on there.

I'm keeping it, it will loosen up I'm sure, for the money I wish it would extend a bit. It folds nicely against the gun and makes an operable package. It gets a seven out of ten from me initially, but I'm sure it gets better with use.

SBR isn’t going anywhere, just the $200 stamp is. Likely know that just wanted to make sure

I’m not really a fan of the brace and will SBR once free, I’m thinking getting a cheek riser for it until can put stock.

The the width of those rods is kinda specific for mpx psb

Nope, it won't. i have a few of them and they are all hard to work. some worse than others. i have one that needs a hammer to jar it loose. lol i have tried greasing and oiling the crap outta them with no luck. it's just the design.
Thanks, you know, I didn't really need bad news, my day was going just fine until you mentioned this, now my entire day, probably week, will be a spiral of depressed mood swings full of regret and dissatisfaction knowing I could have returned it if I hadn't mounted it, now I'm think of my first wife! 🙄
