Lack of Skills - Why Training is Your Friend

This was posted over on 1911addicts and I found it rather disturbing. At 2:30 in the video, officer approaches where he thinks subject is with his weapon slide retracted (so maybe empty?). Weapon raised in front of him where he should notice it. Even the beginning of video begs the training question…

He dropped an empty mag and loaded in another one, but ever hit the slide release.
From this video to the Secret Service agents that shot at and missed the shooter at the WHCD, it is obvious that Law Enforcement and Federal Agencies as a whole are severely lacking in shooting skills, proficiency and situational awareness. Wonder why they want us disarmed?

I wonder if he even gave consideration to the school bus behind the subject as he was shooting. Or the cars down at the intersection. He certainly has the right to defend himself, but I would think he is also supposed to consider collateral damage to innocents like the rest of us (though I’m sure he’d be immune from prosecution/protected from civil suit).

The way the bad guy was running, I had my doubts that he was able to get any kind of accurate shot off. My gut is telling me the fed caught a round of friendly fire.
