The PCC thread got me started. So lets see your Fighting Shotguns and short barrels too
Anyone ever heard of the Remington 7188?
Anyone ever heard of the Remington 7188?
The A5 chooses to not dignify that with a reply.7188 Yes based on the Rem 1100. At the time 1960s it was perhaps the best semiauto shotgun available.
Nope. At the time 1960s it was perhaps the best semiauto shotgun available
Hmmm Ok maybe. I have a early "Rhodesian" FN. Its not the shorter "full stock" model that usually pops up when people talk Rhodesian Shotgun. Its the longer 24" barrel with the standard magazine.
Now you're gonna upset Ole Pistol Pete!Who's the guy sittin on yer back?

I dont have an original source on the photo. My bet is a local farmer scouting or tracking Terrorists. The PATU used locals (they knew the land best). PATU was an auxiliary detachment of the BSAP (British South Afrikan Police (think FBI of sorts). The PATU consisted of both blacks and Whites in five man groups, to act as trackers and interface with locals both black and White to hunt the terrorists who were largely targeting blacksWho's the guy sittin on yer back?

and if you think the 1100 has a lot of parts, dont even bother to count the number in an Auto-5
OK you got me on the O rings; but I was surprised to find some pretty small pins and bits in my Auto 5 including wooden parts. Still I do love my 1960s era Auto 5All of which are sturdy and significant pieces of solid milled steel. Even the springs are made of thick steel.
None are stampings, and certainly none are… sigh… O-rings. >spit<
