When you take an MP5/clone to the range everyone nods knowingly. You just showed up with an iconic gun and everyone knows it. When you show up with a suppressed SD and you fire that first distinctive shot - pffftttt - times slows up, you can almost see your rounds heading down range and you can sense that everyone around you - new shooter on Lane 7, fireball SBR guy two lanes down, 2011 dude, the RO standing behind you watching you shoot - realize that things just went up a level. And then there’s the money shot when you pull out the mag and smoke wafts from the magwell. No one else at the range has that. The AP5SD - some of the most satisfying range time one can hope to have.

I picked up an AP5SD this week. I already have an AP5 and AP5P and this SD has the best fit and finish of the three. I cleaned and lubed it and was pleased to see a gold extractor spring and that several surfaces on the BCG were polished to a mirror sheen. I installed the UTG extended pic rail and a Primary Arms SLX-1 and threw 2 HK mags into my bag and headed to the range today.
I was expecting to put the SD through the usual 200 rd break in with 124 gr NATO, but after the first ten rounds I knew this one was good - it just had that feel. I ran 50 rds of 124gr with the faux shroud on then popped my Obsidian 45 on and ran 65rds of 147gr which all ran problem free. I ran another 50 rds of the NATO suppressed and then declared it broken in. BTW, I got the model with the Magpul brace and it is a really nice looking piece of kit that blends with the body of the gun really nicely.
I’m beyond happy with the SD. It’s like wearing Superman’s cloak.
