Lipsey’s Exclusive S&W 686 Plus Mountain Gun

Nice wheel gun but to be fair I really like my Ruger Alaskan in .44. I like smaller revolvers but I like them with some weight behind em. 4 inch is just too big to carry even outdoors imho. If you have a large animal charging you, you wanna get that led sled outta the holster fast.

I am first to admit this is generally a .44 Special in my use of it. But it is crazy light and can handle full house loads if you are wandering around in bear country. It is very difficult to control with 270 Grain Gold Dot soft points but it hits hard and accurately. Afraid the window of me using it effectively with full house loads has closed. As a younger man I enjoyed recoil a LOT more than my 60 plus year old self.

While some like pretty wood grips the first thing one should do is replace the 329PD ones with Hogue X-frame grips.

It makes the little MONSTER more comfortable to shoot.

Grips make a difference that's for sure. I shot some jhp .44's outta my Alaskan with the crimson trace and I shot em with the soft grips. I would much much rather use the soft grips for hot loads. I have to say that Alaskan has some weight and sucks up some recoil too

I put these grips on because it conceals much easier with these in a Galco inside the waistband rig. But I would like to dispel any Superman myths right here: .44 Special loads only when carrying this one. Bigger grips for open carry when hunting!

0 chance I would get one of those lol shooting that stuff is NOT fun lol
Funny story, my brother wanted to try it, so I loaded it up with a couple .45colt, then a round of full house.454, he tried it and said it ain’t that bad, then he found the .454, it was to funny to see his reaction…..priceless, after this he never trusted me to load a gun for him again…..😬😬
