I browned 2 lbs of beef threw it in a pot with green peppers, onions, two big cans of stewed tomatoes and two bottles of prego. I simmered for a while till it reduced some then hit it with one of them stick mixers. I had some extra bell peppers and red peppers so I chopped some up and threw on the plate.

Oh and yes I did hit it with Parmigiano before eating. Would be blasphemy not too lol 😆 😂 🙄

my wife and i are full bore Italian's, born in America. our parents came from Italy.

we generally buy American made pasta, like Prince, or Ronzoni, or Barilla.

however, we are slowly making the switch over to pasta's made in Italy and shipped here.

there is a price difference, with the Italian made pastas being nearly double the costs.

reason being, the ingredients are much better.

the flour over in Italy is 100% durum wheat, here in the states, it is a mixture.

the cut of the pasta is "rougher" making the sauce stick better to it.

believe it or not, we really don't eat much pasta, like back in the olden days when all 5 of our kids were younger and lived here.....

we are lucky to have pasta maybe 2 times a month..!!

many pasta brands from Italy in your local grocery stores (large chain stores), i highly doubt the small mom and pop stores will pay the high(er) costs of ordering them.

My grandparents were from Sicily. Came here turn of the century. Both my grandmother and my mother were excellent cooks. They made some great italian food! I surely miss those days and them, especially during the holidays.

yes, my mother learnt how to make home made pasta....she had to go to an Italian owned store for the ingredients. in later years, she'd send out my dad, and i'd tag along......great pasta, great sauce, but we called it "the gravy"......break off a chunk of Italian bread and dip it into "the gray".......mom would yell at us...lol...lol.....
