Major FN Reflex XL Issue

NMEDGE

Professional
Went to range this morning and didn't want anything else to complicate my life but I did. Started having issues with light strikes with the reflex. Changed ammo brand and still was having issues. Gun would not cycle and found a piece of primer in with the firing pin. I was able to remove the piece of primer and I be dammed the next round did the same thing! Before this started happening the trigger was very light and honestly it was so light it would fire a round then another one would go off without me pulling trigger. Thats right WITHOUT me pulling the trigger! I know what most of you are thinking. Did I have one of BELTFED's guns that go off in the safe by themselves. No I did not. Honestly nothing like this has ever happened to me--ever! I called FN and explained the situation to them and of course they want to see the gun back at their place. First I had to send them pictures of the Reflex and some spent casings. They also wanted to see the light strikes. I did keep one of them. I will post the pic's of the brass here. I am

waiting for them to send me a shipping label so it can go back to them. This is, was, my carry gun. Not any more. When it is returned it needs to find a new home. I just don't trust it anymore. I hope everyone else is having a better day than me.

well, i certainly do hope it gets taken care of, and frankly i think it will.

but i too would not keep it as a carry gun, but maybe a range toy.

cuz, if it fits in your hand comfortably, and you had good results previously, at least a toy in the collection, and rotate it for a trip to the range every so often.

i get rid of some of my guns when i just do not get them to the range as often as others, or, i just tire of them.

of course too, could it just be an ammo issue..????

i'm waiting for what FN says was the issue.

The ammo I was using was Freedom at first. I just had fired 100 rounds of it thru my Beretta APX with out any issues. I then changed to Federal and still had issues. I also thought I had my Hellcat sold but... the guy only wanted to pay $300 for it. I said no way. Then my offer from Guns.com came and they wanted to give me $305. I tell you it's just not my day. My FFL is going to gun show next month and he says he can get a lot more from it. So, I guess that one waits until next month. I thought $500 was a reasonable price for the thing. As for the Reflex I don't need or want another range gun, I already have have some fine Glocks for that!;)

That sucks especially from FN, honestly, never was a fan of them, I’m sure they will correct your issue, and I would feel the same as you since it was your carry gun, I know I’ll hear about what I’m about to say, but I’ll take a Glock every day as my CCW gun over any other polymer gun, not what you call a fan boy, but I have been using/shooting them since I got my first one from a deputy back in 1996, complete faith in them, and your right about the Hellcat, everyone wants to low ball you on used guns.

about used guns and selling them..

at the LGS i frequent, i was told that they offer a person used prices of 60% or what the gun store sells them for NIB, not MSRP prices we see online.

then too, i have been told, that nearly everyone (except for me) wants optics cut. so that too drives down the offer to buy our used guns.

so the used gun market here is rather dismal in some situations.

now, present a nicely low round count Colt, of any kind, and the value of any Colt is high.

i'd rather sell any gun at the LGS, over say put one on consignment, as any store here gets 20% of the final sale price for them keeping the gun in thier display case.

and with NIB guns priced rather fairly, that too drives down the offer for the LGS to buy our used guns, as all they have to say to the customer is...

"hey, for like another $200, you can get a brand new, never fired gun"

Agreed on resale. 60% is going rate for a trade in value. Same here in Tx.
Buddy runs a chain of national gun stores and he told me same. 60% regardless of state the consumer is trading in the firearm.
