So yesterday (10/25), I decided it was time to bring this little rifle out for some exercise.
The range where I moonlight has started have twice monthly rifle matches, sort of a variation of bench rest, with two categories (production & custom), and one match is at the hundred, the other at the two hundred yard line.
My taking the 17 was to explore the high velocity, low recoil option.
Test was done at the 50 yard line, in some very high winds, the wind was shifting from no value to full value, back to no value.
I shot off the The Rock Jr, and a rear bag.
This one I shot the first two without the bag. And it shows. After I went back on the bag, it tightened nicely.
The rifle itself is a stock Model 917VR, scoped with a Burris XTR-312, and shooting CCI A17 ammo.
When I got home my next door neighbor told me about 17 Winchester Super Magnum......
